Yaxley sparkle at Great Eastern Run

Yaxley runners once again did amazing at this years Great Eastern Run on Sunday 11th October 2015

The weather was perfect as over 50 Yaxley Runners hit the streets of Peterborough for the annual local half marathon.  First home for the men in 20th position was James Mogridge in a new club record of 1.13.35. Also finishing in the top 100 and therefore helping Yaxley to the envious title of 1st local mens team were Steve Lomax 1.16.47 (54th), Simon Hearty 1.17.34 (63rd) and Mike Morley 1.20.07 (93rd).  All 4 also managed PBs on the way too.

Not to be outdone was Caroline Woods who finished in 1.28.39 and in doing so was the first local lady home, also finishing in the top 20 ladies overall.  A fantastic run considering Caroline ran a 3.17 marathon just 2 weeks earlier.

Claire Piercy was the 2nd lady home in a fantastic 1.37.54 which was a personal best by 3 minutes and shows that she is back to her best after suffering a fractured foot on the way to the pub after the clubs AGM in April.

There were too many fantastic results to mention, but well done to all runners, especially those running a half for the very first time – Anna Devine, Emily Hawke, Emily Walker, Jean Maggs, Jo Bonnet, Kate Johnstone, Katie Bevan, Mike Knight and Samantha McGrath to name a few.

And a massive thank you to all that helped out on the day, either marshalling or pacing without you all the race wouldn’t be the same.
