Yaxley Frostbite Record Season Complete

Yaxley Runners rounded off an amazing Frostbite Series with a plucky sixth place at Hinchingbrook School. A tremendous team performance with 35 Yaxley Runners turning out for the Frostbite finale. Yet more records and personal bests were set in a season where Yaxley runners set records for fun. Caroline Woods was first lady runner home for the second time, improving her own record for the highest placed Yaxley lady from 51st to 46th place. There were best Frostbite finishes for Roz Loutit 104th and Steve Joy-Good 82nd to name a couple. The final league table shows Yaxley finished in 4th place, a feat only achieved previously in 1992 when there were six less teams in the league.

Important information for Hinchingbrooke Frosbite – 1 March 2015

Dependent on the weather over the next few weeks, there is a very strong possibility that a scheme to build a new sports facility within the grounds of Hinchingbrooke School will commence. As a result, a large section of the Car Park will be fenced off and allocated to the Building Contractor’s and so the availability of free car parking at Hinchingbrooke Park School will be very limited. BRJ Car Park Marshals will be on duty to direct you to the alternative local “Pay & Display” parking facilities.

You should car share where possible, and plan your journey times to accommodate the need to park at local Car Parks instead of the School. From the Race HQ, these alternative Car Parking sites are located:-

100 metres from Race HQ – Hinchingbrooke Hospital (Satnav – PE26 6NT) – Cost £4 for up to 4 hours.

400 metres from Race HQ – Hinchingbrooke Country Park (Satnav – PE29 6DB) – Cost £2 for up to 6 hours.

400 Metres from Race HQ – Elevations car park opposite the entrance to Huntingdon Railway Station (Satnav – PE29 3BP) – Cost £3 all day (but payment by Credit Card only possible).

Yaxley Romp Around the Woods

A great team performance by Yaxley Runners at the Bourne Woods Frostbite finishing 5th and moving back up to 4th in the league table. Conditions were difficult with plenty of mud and strong headwinds but when the going gets tough the tough get going! A number of the team had their highest ever finish at a Frostbite. James Mogridge equalled his own club record by finishing second and became the highest ever Yaxley Finisher in Bourne Woods. Mike Morley 22nd, Hugh Burton 49th, Mark Evans 55th and Claire Piercy 145th all recorded their best places for Yaxley in the Frostbite league. Oliver Carpenter finished in 87th on his senior debut, finishing 7th Yaxley man. With just one race remaining Yaxley need one more good performance to finish 4th in the league table which would equal the club record best finish of 1992/92 season. Final stop 1st March at Hinchingbrook School…….. not to be missed!

Another Yaxley record set in Frostbite Series

The incredible Frostbite season for Yaxley continued at March on Sunday. This time it was the turn of Caroline Woods to stamp her name on the Yaxley record books. Woods finishing in 51st place was the first lady in the race and the highest ever placed Yaxley lady in a Frostbite race beating Pat Jackson’s 55th set in December 1994!

The team finished eighth on the day and currently stand fifth in the league table with two races remaining. Other notable performances were James Mogridge 5th, Mike Morley 27th, Simon Perkins 71st, Hugh Burton 75th, Steve Joy-Good 130th, Roz Loutit 159th, Rob Smith 177th, Don Brazier 181st and Claire Piercy 204th.

Caroline Woods’ record follows James Mogridge finishing second at St Neots along with the team finishing second both of which were also club records.
